Green Skill/Sustainability Tutor - Prison Education - HMP Fosse Way

MK College Group is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated, learner‑focused Green Skills / Sustainability Tutor to deliver the City & Guilds Level 2 Sustainability and the Green Environment qualification at HMP Fosse Way.

The qualification focuses on:

• Sustainability principles and environmental responsibility
• Climate change awareness and impact
• Sustainable resource use and green behaviours
• The green economy and progression into green careers

This role is central to equipping learners with the knowledge, skills, behaviours, and awareness required to engage positively with sustainability, environmental responsibility, and emerging green employment pathways.

Learners are typically motivated, though many have experienced disrupted education, low confidence, or additional learning needs. As a Green Skills Tutor, you will play a vital role in building confidence, raising aspirations, and helping learners connect learning to real‑world opportunities and progression on release. Sessions are designed to encourage discussion, reflection, and practical understanding, while providing the structure and support learners need to succeed.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planning and delivering engaging, inclusive lessons aligned to City & Guilds specifications
• Supporting learners to develop practical understanding of sustainability and environmental issues
• Facilitating learning for groups of learners with varied abilities and prior educational experiences
• Using a range of teaching and learning strategies, including digital resources, discussion, projects, and practical activities
• Monitoring learner progress, setting targets, and providing timely, constructive feedback
• Accurately assessing learner work and maintaining portfolios in line with awarding‑body requirements
• Embedding literacy, numeracy, digital skills, and employability behaviours within sustainability‑focused learning

We are seeking an individual who:

• Has experience or strong subject knowledge in sustainability, environmental studies, green skills, or related fields
• Can confidently deliver engaging teaching to learners with diverse needs and backgrounds
• Is able to motivate learners who may lack confidence or have experienced educational disadvantage
• Understands or is keen to develop knowledge of green careers, sustainability practices, and environmental responsibility
• Communicates effectively and builds positive, professional relationships with learners
• Is organised and confident in assessment, tracking progress, and meeting awarding‑body standards

A teaching or assessing qualification is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from industry professionals or practitioners with relevant experience who are keen to move into education. Full support and funded qualifications will be provided.
