Geography Teacher - Leicester
A large and well-respected 11–18 secondary school in Leicester is looking to appoint a knowledgeable and engaging Geography Teacher to join its established Humanities faculty. This is an excellent opportunity to teach Geography in a school where the subject is popular, well-resourced in practice (not gimmicks), and valued for its role in developing global awareness and critical thinking.
Geography outcomes are strong at GCSE, and uptake remains healthy due to a curriculum that feels relevant, challenging and well taught.
The Role
You will teach Geography across Key Stages 3 and 4 , with the opportunity to contribute to A-Level teaching for the right candidate. The curriculum is clearly sequenced and balances physical and human geography, with a strong emphasis on case study depth, geographical skills and exam confidence.
Lessons focus on:
Clear explanation of complex geographical processes
Application of knowledge to contemporary global issues
Development of extended writing and data interpretation skills
Confident use of maps, graphs and geographical evidence
You’ll be joining a department that values clarity, consistency and strong classroom practice over novelty for novelty’s sake.
The Geography Department
The Geography team is stable, collaborative and experienced. Planning is shared, assessments are moderated together, and there is a strong culture of supporting each other rather than working in isolation.
Fieldwork is carefully planned and realistic, with local and regional studies embedded into the curriculum. Trips are purposeful and manageable, designed to support learning rather than create unnecessary workload.
The department works closely with History and RE to reinforce literacy and analytical skills across Humanities.
The School
This is a Good-rated secondary school serving a diverse community in Leicester. Behaviour is calm and well managed, supported by consistent systems and visible leadership. Students are respectful, engaged and respond well to clear routines.
The school places a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and retention. Expectations around marking, data and meetings are sensible, and teachers are trusted to focus on high-quality teaching.
What the School Is Looking For
QTS or equivalent qualification in Geography
Secure subject knowledge across human and physical geography
Confident classroom management and clear explanation skills
A reflective approach to teaching and assessment
Willingness to contribute to the Humanities team
This role would suit an experienced Geography teacher or an ECT ready to join a supportive, well-structured department.
Why This Role Is Worth Considering
Strong Humanities faculty with shared planning
Realistic approach to workload and enrichment
Clear behaviour systems and supportive leadership
Opportunity to teach Geography as a respected, academic subject
Stable school with a positive professional culture
If you’re a Geography teacher looking for a school that values strong teaching, thoughtful curriculum design and professional trust, this is a role worth exploring.
