The Tactical Response Unit (TRU) Officer is responsible for delivering mobile, intelligence-led security operations across multiple retail locations. The role focuses on loss prevention, rapid response to incidents, covert and overt security activity. Supporting the safety of staff, customers, premises and assets within a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct mobile patrols and attend stores / sites based on intelligence and operational needs
- Provide both overt (visible) and covert (plain-clothes) security presence to deter and detect theft
- Lawfully detain offenders in line with legislation and company procedures
- Collate evidence to support investigations and prosecutions
- Liaise closely with police, crime agencies and store management
- Respond to incidents including theft, anti-social behaviour (ASB), aggressive individuals
- Support high-risk stores and peak trading periods with targeted deployments
- Carry out surveillance on high-risk areas, products, or known offenders
- Complete detailed incident reports, intelligence logs and statements when required
- Operate CCTV systems in line with GDPR and company policies
- Provide first aid assistance and respond to emergency situations
- De-escalate conflict in a safe, professional and proportionate manner
- Support loss prevention strategies and contribute to reducing shrinkage The duties of this role include but are not limited to the responsibilities outlined above and may change to meet business needs and operational demands. About you: * Previous retail security experience, ideally in a supervisory or mobile role
* Strong knowledge of loss prevention and retail security procedures
* Excellent communication and leadership skills
* Professional in approach, with a balanced sense of judgement, and a keen eye for detail.
* A full five-year checkable employment history.
* A valid SIA Licence.
