The school & the Year 2 Teacher role
This Leicester school places early literacy and number fluency at the heart of its KS1 provision. The Year 2 Teacher will develop systematic phonics teaching, run guided reading and lead carefully sequenced writing units. From the January 2026 start the Year 2 Teacher will run targeted interventions, analyse formative assessment information and report to families. The Year 2 Teacher will receive structured mentoring and in-school CPD as a Full-Time Year 2 Teacher from January 2026.

Key responsibilities for the Year 2 Teacher
• Plan and deliver daily phonics and reading sessions as the Year 2 Teacher; deliver mathematics lessons that build fluency and reasoning.
• Use assessment to personalise learning and run booster groups as the Year 2 Teacher.
• Engage with parents through workshops and regular reporting as the Year 2 Teacher. The Year 2 Teacher will join planning meetings before January 2026, attend induction during January 2026, and be fully teaching from January 2026 as a Full-Time Year 2 Teacher.

Person specification — Year 2 Teacher
We seek a Year 2 Teacher with QTS and strong KS1 experience, excellent behaviour management and a growth mindset. The Year 2 Teacher should be ready to prepare prior to January 2026, attend induction in January 2026, and teach from January 2026 as a Full-Time Year 2 Teacher.
