Building Control Consultant

Are you an RBI who misses being hands-on and genuinely supporting clients? Do you often spot issues on site that you know could have been resolved during the planning stage?

Maybe you’re curious about the Principal Designer role under the Building Regulations, but concerned about what that could mean for your registration come 2028.

If so, this could be exactly what you’re looking for.

I’m working with an established and well-respected consultancy that is growing due to continued success. This is not a replacement role, you’d be joining a thriving, stable team, without the pressure of having to win new work from day one.

The project variety is a real highlight. You’ll be involved in hospitals, hotels, residential blocks, retail schemes, industrial projects, HRBs, leisure developments and stadiums - so no two weeks look the same.

In this role, you’ll be supporting clients at the design stage of construction, attending design team and planning meetings, and providing clear, practical advice on Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act.

You’ll need solid working knowledge of Building Control Regulations and experience beyond purely domestic projects. That said, if there are project types you haven’t yet worked on, full training and support is available.

This position is open to RBI-registered professionals at levels 2D–3H, or to those with extensive Building Control experience who have not yet registered.

As the consultancy is also a registered RBCA, you’ll be supported in maintaining your current registration — and potentially increasing your registration level over time.
