We are seeking a Transport Assessor to join our Risk Assessment team on a temporary basis. This role involves assessing the transport requirements of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will support the team in completing individual risk assessments for home to school transport and reviewing existing assessments in response to any changes in needs. This position may also involve supporting other administrative tasks within the Passenger Transport Services team.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Conduct detailed assessments of transport requirements for children with SEND.
• Produce and review individual risk assessments to determine suitable transport arrangements.
• Gather and interpret information from various sources to produce comprehensive written reports and correspondence.
• Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to problem-solve and achieve optimal outcomes for children, while working within tight deadlines.
• Support with administrative tasks across the Passenger Transport Services team as needed.
• Work at County Hall as required by the service.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience in gathering and interpreting information to produce reports and correspondence.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Confidence in using a range of IT packages, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database systems.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise empathetically and calmly with the public, including parents and carers.
• Experience in delivering services to individuals or groups, particularly those accessing support.
• Knowledge and understanding of special educational needs and disabilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently to meet deadlines.
