A well-established Church of England all-through school in Leicester is seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Music Teacher to join its performing arts provision from September. Overview of the Role
The successful candidate will teach Music across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to contribute to Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 5 provision depending on experience. This role involves delivering both practical and theory-based lessons, supporting students in performance, composition, and listening skills.
Music plays an active role in the wider life of the school, and the successful candidate will be encouraged to support concerts, assemblies, and extra-curricular music opportunities. The department is supported with dedicated music facilities, including rehearsal spaces and performance equipment.
Main Responsibilities
In this position, you will:
Deliver engaging music lessons that support practical performance and theoretical understanding
Teach students to perform confidently using instruments and voice
Support composition work using both traditional and digital tools
Encourage musical creativity and exploration across different genres
Prepare students for formal assessments and performances
Organise and support school performances, concerts, or musical events
Maintain classroom organisation and ensure safe use of musical equipment
Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback
Participate in departmental planning and whole-school initiatives
Ideal Candidate Profile
The school is seeking a teacher who demonstrates both musical skill and strong classroom practice.
Applicants should have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
A degree in Music or a closely related subject
Experience delivering practical music lessons
Ability to teach across a range of musical styles and instruments
Confidence leading performances and musical activities
Strong organisational and classroom management skills
Willingness to support the Christian ethos of the school
Commitment to inclusive and engaging teaching practices
