Payments Clerk
A business in Leicester is looking for an experienced, hands‑on Payments Clerk to support them on an interim basis for approximately three months. This role is ideal for someone confident working independently in a fast‑paced environment with strong attention to detail and solid experience across payment processes, reconciliations and general finance administration.
Key Responsibilities
Payments & Transaction Processing
- Manage and support incident resolution across payment platforms.
- Oversee travel and expense processing , ensuring accuracy and compliance with policy.
- Administer company credit card transactions , including reconciliations and follow‑ups.
- Complete expense reconciliations and ensure timely submission and approval cycles.
- Assist with month‑end tasks , including data checks, reconciliations and reporting.
- Produce regular and ad-hoc reports using Excel or Google Sheets , ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Support new store setups , including creation of new merchant codes .
- Be the point of contact for onboarding new payment platforms and ensuring smooth integration.
- Handle chargebacks , including investigation, documentation and timely resolution.
Skills & Experience Required
- Experience in a payments, transactional finance or expense‑processing role.
- Strong reconciliation skills and high attention to detail.
- Confident using Excel and/or Google Sheets.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Comfortable working fully on‑site in Leicester, 5 days per week.
