Chemistry Project Manager

We’re supporting the search for a Chemistry Project Manager within a specialist manufacturing environment focused on developing and improving high-performance materials. This is a hands-on, onsite role where you’ll lead cross-functional technical projects, drive product innovation, and ensure solutions meet both commercial and regulatory requirements.

The Role

As Chemistry Project Manager, you will take ownership of technical projects across the full product lifecycle—from early-stage feasibility through to launch and continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to deliver high-quality, commercially viable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end technical projects including new product development, product improvements, and raw material evaluations

  • Conduct feasibility studies and assess project viability

  • Manage cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within target parameters

  • Ensure product designs meet regulatory, environmental, and customer requirements

  • Identify and mitigate risks across quality, safety, service, and financial performance

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate technical outcomes into commercial value

  • Support product launches, including working with commercial teams on technical messaging

  • Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement where needed

  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and data systems

About You

We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with project leadership capability and a collaborative mindset.

You will ideally have:

  • A degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related discipline

  • Experience in pressure-sensitive adhesives, coatings, or similar materials (preferred)

  • Proven project management experience, including leading cross-functional teams

  • Experience bringing new products to market

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and product development

  • Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DoE), statistics, and risk management tools

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence a range of stakeholders

  • A proactive, solution-focused approach to problem-solving

  • Strong organisational and analytical skills

Working Arrangements & Benefits

  • Location: Onsite (Leicestershire area)

  • Contract: Permanent

  • Salary: £38,000 – £43,000 (dependent on experience)

  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week (flexible working options available)

  • Annual Leave: 31 days (including bank holidays), increasing with service

  • Additional Benefits:

  • Health cash plan (post-probation)

  • Company sick pay scheme

  • Additional leave incentives with service
