As an ADHD Nurse in Leicester, you will play a pivotal role in the assessment, treatment, and ongoing support of individuals diagnosed with ADHD. Working closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team, you will help deliver tailored care plans, provide psychoeducation, and monitor treatment effectiveness, particularly relating to medication management and behavioural interventions.
Key Responsibilities for the ADHD Nurse Job in Leicester
- Conduct initial screenings and support in diagnostic assessments for ADHD.
- Provide support and education to patients and families about ADHD and its impact.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualised care plans.
- Monitor the effects of ADHD medications, including side effect management and titration support.
- Work collaboratively with GPs, schools, social services, and community teams to ensure holistic care.
- Deliver psychoeducational workshops and behavioural support strategies.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to governance and safeguarding protocols.
- Support service development and participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements for the ADHD Nurse Job in Leicester
- Registered Nurse (RMN, RGN, or RNLD) with valid NMC registration.
- Experience in mental health or neurodevelopmental conditions (preferably ADHD).
- Strong communication skills and ability to build trust with patients and families.
- Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
- Good understanding of ADHD diagnostic criteria, treatment pathways, and medication protocols.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in documentation and care planning.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Prior experience in an ADHD or neurodevelopmental service.
- Knowledge of NICE guidelines for ADHD treatment.
- Non-Medical Prescribing qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Experience working with children, adolescents, or adults with ADHD.
- Ability to deliver group sessions and psychoeducation programmes.
