FTE £29,779 - £32,308
37 hours per week, Term Time (38.6 weeks per year) plus 3 Professional Learning Days
Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 4:00pm
Friday 8:00am to 3:30pm with ½ hour unpaid lunch daily
The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective leadership and organisation of the Science Technician team and the safe, efficient running of technical support within the Science Faculty.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading the technician team to ensure that their work and procedures effectively meet the needs of Science Faculty staff and pupils.
• Ensuring that all science apparatus, equipment, chemicals, compounds and other material resources are accurately accounted for and stored or maintained appropriately.
• Ensuring that the technician team follows best practice in health and safety, with all relevant Risk Assessments and H&S documentation correctly completed and maintained.
• Supporting the delivery of high quality science lessons by preparing, setting up and clearing away practical resources as requested by teaching staff.
• Optimising the use and availability of science materials and equipment through effective stock management, timely ordering and efficient equipment turnaround.
• Ensuring that classrooms, preparation rooms and storage areas are kept clean, safe and well organised, with spillages and waste disposed of correctly.
• Developing and maintaining technical expertise in the equipment and apparatus used in science teaching.
• Developing and implementing new techniques to support practical and investigative science work.
• Ensuring that all chemicals, compounds and equipment are used and stored in compliance with national and local policies and procedures.
