Developer - iOS
The role:
While you’ll have heard our name, there’s a lot you probably don’t know about NEXT. Like how we create most of our systems ourselves – whether it’s a website, mobile app or an application. What’s more, we’re growing. Fast. And it’s the kind of growth and investment that is exciting for everyone in our business. We are looking for a Developer to join our team.
Our eCommerce websites and apps have grown steadily over the past 10 years to become one of the largest online retail platforms in the UK. We currently sell to 70 international markets, offering our 6 million active customers a personalised shopping experience and the ability to purchase from a wide range of products using multiple delivery methods and payment types.
Are you passionate about creating top-tier, enterprise-level mobile applications? Do you thrive in dynamic environments and relish the opportunity to build high-quality features from the ground up? If so, we have an incredible opportunity for you!
We have rewritten our customer-facing iOS apps using SwiftUI , bringing a fresh, accessible and seamless experience to our users. With our eCommerce apps driving around 50% of our online trade, this is a fantastic project to be part of.
What you’ll take on:
- Work with Architectural Patterns: Use established architectural foundations to build performant and scalable iOS features.
- Design and Implement Features: Build components for our white-label mobile apps that offer rich functionality while ensuring an inclusive and accessible experience for all users.
- Build Adaptive User Interfaces: Develop intuitive Phone and Tablet interfaces using SwiftUI that scale perfectly across various screen sizes.
- Collaborate across the Team: Work closely with Product Owners, UX designers and fellow developers to understand requirements and deliver high-quality code.
- Contribute to Technical Excellence: Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to the team’s collective knowledge of the Apple ecosystem.
- Understand the Full Stack: Develop a sound understanding of how our apps interact with backend services, API integrations and deeplinking variations.
- Support Continuous Delivery: Use Azure build pipelines to ensure smooth and reliable deployments.
What you’ll bring:
We are looking for skilled individuals with:
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrable experience in building robust iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI (familiarity with Swift 6, iOS 18 and above).
- Analytical & Problem Solving Skills: The ability to troubleshoot, optimise application performance and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Automation: Experience implementing Unit Testing and UI Tests using Swift Testing & XCUITest frameworks to ensure application reliability.
- Agile Methodologies: A proven track record in agile development methodologies, including experience with Scrum.
- CI/CD: Experience using continuous integration and delivery tools, such as Azure DevOps.
- RESTful APIs: Hands-on experience with RESTful API integration.
Nice to have:
- Experience with complex deeplinking
- Integrating webview accessibility
- Apps handling multiple languages
