Summary
An Apprentice Store Operative keeps our busy warehouse running smoothly, working with goods in, picking & packing, stock movements between sites and maintaining high safety and housekeeping standards. Working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, you will build practical skills, use warehouse systems and support production.
- Wage
£16,640 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age
National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices
Annual pay review, annual bonus after one years’ continuous service.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
You will be supported to become proficient in:
- Using a forklift and reach truck (training will be provided)
- Picking & packing goods for export and in-house manufacture
- Handling high value parts and large components
- Ensuring health and safety requirements are followed
- Shrink-wrapping
- Unloading deliveries
- General housekeeping
You will also work closely with other areas of the company, including the machine shop and fabrication.

What you'll learn

- Store and pick products in line with organisational procedures.
- Dispatch products in line with organisational procedures.
- Decant, pack products in line with organisational procedures.
- Communicate with others verbally, for example internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers.
- Communicate in writing with others, for example internal and external customers, colleagues and managers.
- Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
- Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
- Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
- Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
- Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
- support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
- Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
- Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
- Follow equity, diversity and inclusion rules.
- Carry out and record learning and development activities.
- Conducts handover activities.

Training schedule
- Blended learning with self-study online and remote sessions.
- Diarised visits from dedicated Trainer/Assessor
- Attendance at Loughborough College for an Induction Day (Induction to take place on the last Wednesday of the month that you are enrolled, 9:30am-3pm. Confirmation of date provided upon enrolment)
- Attendance at Loughborough College for Functional Skills (if required)

Requirements
Desirable qualifications
GCSE in:
Maths and English (grade C / 4 or equivalent)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
