Administrative Assistant
Job Overview
Would you like to help make a difference to children and families living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland? We have an exciting opportunity for an administrative assistant role to support the Community Paediatric Services. The successful applicant would be working as part of a team of administrators who support our medical, nursing and allied professional colleagues.
The types of duties will include: (not exhaustive)
- Maintaining electronic patient records, including adding referrals, updating demographic details.
- Requesting completion of information from clinical teams and health professionals, forwarding information to Schools and Local Authorities.
- Telephone communication with parents, carers, schools and Local Authorities.
- Ensuring patients are on appropriate waiting lists.
- Arranging appointments and sending appointment letters
- Responding to various tasks from clinical team members for admin support

Job Description Summary (Main Duties And Responsibilities)
We are looking for a highly motivated individual, you will need to demonstrate previous experience of working with confidential information, showing attention to detail and maintaining accuracy at all times. Your ability to work using your own initiative is essential, whilst understanding the importance of adhering to Trust Policies and local procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good general level of education including GCSE in English Language and Mathematics at grade C (new Grade 4) or equivalent.
- Previous experience in an administrative role, working in a busy office environment.
- Good working knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Office packages.
- Excellent Customer Service skills and the ability to work as part of an integrated team.
- NVQ 2 in administration or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Operating SystmOne, a national NHS electronic patient record system, is a key requirement of this role, and whilst full training will be provided, there is an expectation that applicants would need to be skilled and confident in adapting to work with complex electronic systems.
