Job Summary

Our Vision is to enable and inspire the world of work and wider environment to be a safer and healthier place. Our Mission is to save lives and protect people at work through offering world-class and accessible health, safety, environmental, risk and wellbeing qualifications, and services that address the changing and emerging risks in the global workplace.

NEBOSH’s Ethical Practice team plays a critical role in protecting the integrity of our qualifications and assessments by carrying out activities to detect and deter malpractice.

We are currently looking for an Ethical Practice Specialist to join our investigatory team (on a 12 month fixed term basis) and help us protect the integrity of NEBOSH’s qualifications by detecting, investigating, and deterring malpractice.

The role

The Ethical Practice Specialist is responsible for carrying out ethical practice investigations and tasks accurately, consistently, and in accordance with NEBOSH’s policies and standards. The role holder is also responsible for making robust, evidence-based recommendations about sanctions when evidence of malpractice is found. The Ethical Practice Specialist will deliver and support NEBOSH’s programme of activities to detect and deter malpractice.

The role-holder will be responsible for managing their own portfolio of investigations, across NEBOSH’s qualification assessments, in a busy area of work. The role requires excellent writing and analytical skills, high attention to detail, and an enquiring mind. A collaborative and supportive approach to team working is essential: but the role-holder must also be self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously and owning investigation tasks.

  • Analysing recordings and data generated by remote proctoring software.
  • Communicating with individuals and organisations under investigation.
  • Responding professionally, accurately and in a timely manner to enquiries from internal and external customers.

Key skills and attributes you will need (please see full job profile):

  • A high level of literacy and the ability to analyse large quantities of written information.
  • A level 6 qualification such as an honours degree or knowledge and experience demonstrating the capabilities associated with a qualification at that level.
  • A proven ability to produce high quality reports and written communications.
  • Experience of carrying out investigations (broadly conceived).
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to carry out desk-based research.
  • A sound working knowledge of NEBOSH assessments and products (or ability to achieve within the probation period).
  • A proven ability to work on initiative and without supervision.
  • The ability to make robust, evidence-based decisions.
  • The ability to work at pace and multi-task.
  • The ability to work as part of a team, as well as with other teams and departments.
