Out of Hours Veterinary Surgeon - Emergency & Critical Care

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a supportive Out of Hours service in Leicester. This role is ideal for someone with an interest in emergency and critical care, who enjoys managing medical and surgical emergencies within a balanced and well-supported rota.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency and critical care to pets during Out of Hours shifts
• Manage a consistent rota of seven nights on followed by fourteen nights off, allowing for excellent work-life balance
• Competently handle sole charge emergency cases, including soft tissue surgery
• Guide and support veterinary students who may occasionally assist with OOH cases
• Deliver care guided by patient needs, ensuring safe and pragmatic clinical decision-making
• Work collaboratively within a friendly, welcoming team environment

Requirements

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
• Competent in emergency medicine and soft tissue surgery
• Confident in sole charge situations
• Motivated to support and mentor veterinary students
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
