Nursery Teaching Assistant - Leicester
Support Early Years Learners in a Nurturing Nursery Setting
We are seeking a dedicated, patient, and enthusiastic Nursery Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Leicester, starting as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with children at the very beginning of their educational journey, supporting their social, emotional, and academic development in a safe and stimulating environment.
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced nursery staff, assisting in the delivery of high-quality play-based learning that promotes children’s curiosity, confidence, and independence. The Role
As a Nursery Teaching Assistant, you will support children’s learning and development across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Your responsibilities will include assisting with structured activities, play-based learning, and daily routines, as well as helping children develop social skills, confidence, and independence.
You will work closely with nursery teachers to observe, assess, and record children’s progress, providing targeted support where needed. Communication with staff and parents will be an important part of the role, ensuring that each child’s needs are met and their achievements celebrated.
Key Responsibilities
Support teachers in delivering high-quality nursery activities
Work with individuals or small groups to enhance learning
Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and social development
Observe and record children’s progress and provide feedback to teachers
Assist with preparation and organisation of classroom resources
Support children with personal care and daily routines as required
Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment
Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and parents as appropriate
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will:
Have experience working with young children in a nursery or EYFS setting
Be patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic
Possess good communication and teamwork skills
Be reliable, proactive, and organised
Demonstrate understanding of early years development
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Early Career Teaching Assistants are welcome and will receive support and guidance from the nursery team.
