Clinical Director - Veterinary Hospital - Leicester

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to step into a Clinical Director role at a leading small animal hospital in Leicester . This position offers the chance to lead a large, well-established team while maintaining hands-on clinical involvement.

Salary: Up to £90,000 per annum (DOE)
Location: Leicester
Hours: 40 hours per week over 4 days, with a 1 in 4 Saturday rota
Contract Type: Permanent, full-time

About the Role
This role offers an excellent balance of 80% clinical and 20% leadership responsibilities , giving you the opportunity to continue doing what you love while shaping the future direction of the hospital. You’ll be based solely at the main hospital site, supported by an experienced and highly skilled multidisciplinary team.

You’ll work closely with the leadership team to drive clinical standards, mentor colleagues, and ensure the highest quality of patient care. Regular clinical meetings and collaborative discussions create an environment of shared learning and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a large clinical team to maintain exceptional standards of care

• Continue hands-on clinical work, including consults and surgeries

• Support, mentor, and develop colleagues at all levels

• Contribute to practice strategy, workflow efficiency, and client service excellence

About You

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with 10+ years’ experience

• Proven leadership or management experience

• Strong communicator with a collaborative and approachable leadership style

• Confident across primary care medicine and surgery

• Passionate about supporting and developing your team

The Practice
You’ll be joining a modern, well-equipped veterinary hospital with a team of 29 vets, including certificate holders in ophthalmology, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, and ECC. Facilities include a CT scanner, endoscopy suite, dental X-ray, orthopaedic theatre, and advanced ophthalmology equipment. The site holds Cat-Friendly Gold Award status and is an approved nurse training centre .
