Mathematics Teacher - High-Achieving School in Loughborough
A highly regarded 11–18 secondary school in the Loughborough area is seeking a dedicated and skilled Teacher of Mathematics to join its successful Maths department. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a school known for strong academic standards, clear routines and a culture where high expectations are matched with strong support.
The Role
You will teach Mathematics across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach A-Level for the right candidate. The Maths curriculum is carefully structured and knowledge-rich, focusing on fluency, reasoning and problem-solving. Lessons are designed to build confidence while also providing challenge, ensuring students make secure and sustained progress.
The department uses shared schemes of work, assessments and resources, allowing teachers to focus on delivery and responsive teaching rather than excessive planning. Intervention and stretch are embedded into the curriculum, with targeted support for pupils who need it and opportunities to challenge high achievers.
The Department
The Maths department is large, experienced and collaborative, with a strong track record of results at GCSE and A-Level. Teachers work closely together, regularly moderating work and sharing strategies to improve outcomes. Department leadership is supportive and approachable, with a clear focus on consistency and staff development.
New staff are well supported through mentoring and induction, and there are clear opportunities for professional growth within the department.
The School
This is a well-organised secondary school with a reputation for excellent behaviour, strong pastoral care and academic ambition. Classrooms are calm and purposeful, and students are respectful and motivated to succeed.
Leadership is visible and values professional trust. Workload is carefully managed through sensible marking policies and clear systems, contributing to strong staff retention. The school was most recently rated Good by Ofsted and continues to build on its strengths.
Facilities include modern classrooms with interactive technology and well-maintained teaching spaces that support effective learning.
What the School Is Looking For
The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS or equivalent in Mathematics
Have strong subject knowledge and a clear teaching approach
Deliver structured, engaging lessons with high expectations
Be confident managing behaviour consistently
Value collaboration and professional reflection
Applications are welcome from experienced teachers and ECTs seeking a supportive, high-quality Maths department.
Why Apply?
Strong, collaborative Maths team
Clear curriculum and shared resources
Excellent student behaviour and engagement
Supportive leadership and manageable workload
Opportunities for progression and development
This role is ideal for a Maths teacher seeking a stable, ambitious school where teaching quality and professional wellbeing are both prioritised.
