Job Overview CAMHS - Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner
x1 Permanent full time post and
x1 Fixed Term 6 month temporary full time contract to back fill maternity leave.
Due to successful career progression a vacancy for a full time Band 6 PBS Practitioner has arisen within the CAMHS PBS Expansion service based within CAMHS LDT. This service is currently expanding Positive Behaviour Support across the wider CAMHS outpatient service following the success of the implementation of PBS within CAMHS LDT.
We work under the principles of Positive Behaviour Support and STOMP/STAMP agendas to provide a holistic service for children and young people presenting with mental ill health and associated behaviours and/or high risk behaviours underpinned by co-morbid conditions.
Post holders will undertake assessments under the PBS framework enabling an holistic individual plan to be developed that highlights all areas of need for the CYP, how these needs can be met & who is best placed to meet them.
The postholder will work predominantly with patients open to CAMHS Outpatient team but will also provide some input into CAMHS LDT.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle during work hours are essential requirements for this role.

The post holder will work under the guidance of the PBS Lead/Deputy Lead undertaking assessments of CYP open to CAMHS Outpatient services in line with the principles of PBS to develop a full holistic understanding of the CYP, including how their diagnosis and life events impact upon them and how they mitigate and communicate this impact through the presentation of behaviours of concern.
Initial plans of how these can be understood, avoided, reduced and managed will also be developed as part of this process to enable some immediate strategies to be implemented where appropriate to do so.
Implementation of these plans may include time limited direct work with the CYP and parents/carers to follow and implement changes and strategies recommended. Continued review and monitoring of these plans would be transferred to the CAMHS Outpatient clinician.
The post holder will provide psychoeducation to the CYP and parents/carers based around the plans to aid their understanding of the CYP needs and difficulties, and share as appropriate to others involved with the CYP.
They will also participate in the provision of training for professionals and follow-up consultations for CAMHS clinicians.
The post holders will also undertake patient / parent group work within CAMHS LDT to ensure a wide range of skills and knowledge acquired and maintained.
