Reprographics Technician | Leicester
The Opportunity
Are you a detail-oriented individual with a flair for organization and a passion for high-quality production? Can you be the engine room of a school, ensuring that every teacher has the resources they need to deliver world-class lessons?
We are seeking a proactive and technically-minded Reprographics Technician to join a busy support team in Leicester . Known for its incredible diversity, its premier league sporting spirit, and its status as a leading hub for space science and textiles, Leicester is a city that thrives on production and innovation. We are looking for an individual who can manage a high-volume workload with precision, ensuring the school's "print and press" operations run like clockwork.
Core Responsibilities
Print Production Management: Coordinating the school’s high-volume printing requirements, from daily classroom worksheets and assessment papers to professional-grade event programmes and marketing brochures.
Technical Maintenance: Acting as the first point of contact for all reprographics machinery—including digital printers, high-speed photocopiers, and finishing equipment (binders, laminators, and guillotines)—performing basic troubleshooting and coordinating external repairs.
Finishing & Quality Control: Ensuring all materials are finished to a professional standard, providing services such as booklet making, thermal binding, and large-format laminating for classroom displays.
Resource Procurement: Monitoring and managing the inventory of paper, toner, and other printing consumables, ensuring the school maintains a cost-effective and sustainable supply chain.
Copyright & Compliance: Ensuring that all school printing adheres to national copyright laws and the school's internal brand guidelines, maintaining a consistent and legal standard for all published materials.
Administrative Liaison: Working closely with teaching and support staff to prioritize urgent requests and managing the digital "print queue" to ensure deadlines are met during peak exam and transition periods.
Why This School?
Leicester’s Creative Pulse: Work in a city with a rich history of manufacturing and design, within a school that values high-quality physical resources as a key component of student success.
Specialist Facilities: Benefit from a dedicated reprographics suite equipped with modern, high-speed digital printing technology and professional finishing tools.
Vital Community Role: Join a support team where your work is seen and used by every student and staff member every day, making you an essential part of the school's identity.
Professional Growth: Access to training in Advanced Print Software , Health & Safety (COSHH) , and pathways toward Creative Media Lead or Resources Manager roles.
Candidate Profile
Experience: Previous experience in a reprographics department, print shop, or a high-volume administrative environment is highly desirable. Familiarity with digital print software and hardware is a significant advantage.
Technical Aptitude: The ability to operate and maintain complex machinery, with a methodical approach to troubleshooting and a keen eye for print quality.
Organizational Mastery: Exceptional time-management skills and the ability to remain calm and focused when managing competing deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
Communication Skills: A helpful and collaborative manner, with the ability to manage the expectations of staff and provide guidance on the most effective ways to present printed materials.
Character: A resilient, proactive, and meticulous individual who takes pride in producing work of the highest standard to support the education of young people.
