About the Role
The successful candidate will deliver engaging Art lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 , with the potential to contribute to Key Stage 5 depending on experience. The role involves encouraging pupils to explore a variety of artistic techniques and media while developing their own creative style.
You will support pupils in developing technical skills in areas such as drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art, while also helping them understand the historical and cultural contexts of art.
Key responsibilities include:
Planning and delivering engaging Art lessons across KS3 and KS4
Encouraging creativity, experimentation, and artistic confidence
Teaching a range of artistic techniques including drawing, painting, and mixed media
Supporting pupils in developing sketchbooks, portfolios, and creative projects
Assessing pupil progress and providing constructive feedback
Contributing to department planning and curriculum development
Supporting exhibitions, art displays, and creative enrichment opportunities
Maintaining a well-organised and inspiring studio environment
Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
Have strong subject knowledge in Art and Design
Demonstrate creativity and enthusiasm for teaching art
Possess strong classroom management and organisational skills
Be committed to encouraging creativity and supporting pupils of all abilities
Be willing to contribute to the wider creative life of the school
